"John David Thomas compiled a record of 56-12-2 during his four years in the 177-pound weight class. A four-year conference champion, Thomas was voted conference MVP as a first-year student.

He was selected as the team MVP for three years and served as team captain as a senior. Active in campus events, Thomas was elected homecoming king in 1976. John was killed three months after his graduation from VU on the Pennsylvania Turnpike by a semi-truck driver who fell asleep at the wheel. Thomas was inducted posthumously.
