"One of Valpo's best wrestlers of all-time, Montgomery captured Indiana Collegiate Conference Championships in 1967 and 1969.

While competing in the 130-pound weight class, Montgomery went undefeated and qualified for the NCAA Championships in 1969. That season, Montgomery won the Indiana Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championship and was selected the IIAA's Outstanding Wrestler. He finished his career with an impressive record of 44-3-1. In 1969, he was honored with the Valpo Sportsmanship Award.

A 1970 Valpo graduate, Montgomery has been the president of Robert Montgomery Landscapes in Malvern, Pennsylvania for the past 30 years.
