Huff Caps Regular Season With League Player of the Week Honor
Monday, March 3, 2008

After leading Valparaiso to three wins last week, including a game-winning three-point play with 1.6 seconds remaining in overtime against Wright State to clinch a first-round home game in the Horizon League Championship, senior forward Shawn Huff (Helsinki, Finland/Makelanrinne) has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week.

Huff averaged 14 points per game in Valpo’s wins over Milwaukee, Detroit and Wright State last week as the Crusaders won all three contests to finish the regular season in a tie for fourth place in the league standings.  He scored in double figures in all three games and has now put up at least 10 points in eight of Valpo’s last nine outings.  On the week, the senior connected on 63.6% (14-of-22) of his field goal attempts, including 66.7% (10-of-15) from behind the arc.  Huff now ranks fourth nationally in 3-point percentage, having hit 48.8% (79-of-162) of his tries from downtown this season.
