One of the top players in the Mid-Continent Conference, Jeanette Gray excelled on the hardwood for Valparaiso, and for her efforts will be inducted into the Valparaiso University Hall of Fame on February 23.

A two-time All Mid-Con selection, including a First Team pick in 2002-2003, Gray helped lead Valparaiso to its first two postseason appearances ever.  A three-time team captain, she helped the Crusaders advance to the quarterfinals of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament as a junior, and then led Valpo to its first NCAA Tournament appearance as a senior.  In the WNIT quarterfinals against Houston, Gray tied the school’s single game record with eight steals.

A two-time Academic All-District V selection, Gray ranks third all-time at Valpo in scoring and rebounding with 1,460 points and 766 career boards.  Her scoring total is 15th best in Mid-Continent Conference history and she ranks 10th in rebounding.  Twice a member of the Mid-Con’s All-Tournament Team, she ranks fourth all-time at Valpo in steals and 11th in assists.

The 2003 Valparaiso University Female Athlete of the Year, Gray was also a three-time member of the Mid-Con’s All-Academic Team.  Gray is currently a mathematics teacher at Highland (Ind.) High School, where she also serves as the school’s head basketball coach.

The Valparaiso University Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Banquet will be held on Saturday, February 23 at 11 a.m. at the Strongbow Inn Banquet Center.  The inductees will also be recognized at halftime of both the men’s and women’s basketball games on the same day.
