Tuesday, October 2, 2007

For the third time this season, junior Laura Rolf (Rochester, Mich./Lutheran Northwest) has been named the Horizon League women’s cross country Athlete of the Week.

Rolf receives the League honor after winning for the third time in as many races this year.  The junior bested a field of 214 runners last Friday in the Gold Race at the Notre Dame Invitational, setting a new school record with a time of 17:04 over the five-kilometer course.  Rolf finished 46 seconds ahead of the race’s runner-up.

Rolf now holds program records in both the 5K and 6K and has won four career races.  In addition, the junior has finished among the top-five runners in ten of her 16 career starts.
