Valparaiso to Hold Season-Long Celebration of Sweet 16 Run
Friday, November 2, 2007

With the 10-year anniversary of the 1997-1998 men’s basketball team’s run to the Sweet 16, highlighted by “The Shot” to beat Ole Miss, approaching in March, the Valparaiso athletics department has planned a number of activities to celebrate the anniversary, highlighted by a reunion of the squad later this season.

The first event to take place will be the re-issuance of the long sold-out South Shore Arts poster titled “Winning.”  The poster features an artist’s rendition of the famous photograph of Bryce Drew releasing the game-winning shot against Ole Miss with father and head coach Homer Drew looking on in the background.  The poster will be available in limited quantities at the Valparaiso University Book Center beginning Monday, November 5.

One of the season’s featured promotions will be Bryce Drew Bobblehead Night, sponsored by Pepsi.  The date of the bobblehead giveaway, as well as the date of the reunion, will be announced at a later time.  In addition, many other giveaway and in-game promotions relating to the 10-year anniversary will be announced throughout the season.
