Crusader Men Tabbed Ninth in Horizon League Poll
Thursday, August 23, 2007

The Valparaiso University men’s soccer team has been picked to finish ninth in its inaugural season of Horizon League play, as announced by the League office today.

Each of the league’s nine head coaches had a vote, and were not allowed to vote for their own squad.  Eight points were awarded for a first-place vote, with one point less being awarded for each place down to one point for an eighth-place vote.

UIC was tabbed as the unanimous favorite to capture the League title.  Green Bay and Milwaukee followed the Flames, with Loyola and Butler picked fourth and fifth.  Cleveland State, Detroit and Wright State were projected sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively.

Valparaiso’s exhibition season continues Saturday at Eastgate Field, as the Crusaders host Western Kentucky.  First kick is slated for 1:00 p.m.
