Swimmer Tim Weidner to Enter Valpo's Hall of Fame on February 28

One of the most accomplished swimmers ever to take to the water at Valparaiso University, Tim Weidner holds five school records, including three individual events and, on February 28, he will be inducted into the Valparaiso University Athletics Hall of Fame. 

A two-time First Team All Mid-Continent Conference selection, Weidner holds the school’s top mark in the 50 and 100 freestyle, along with the 100 breaststroke.  A member of the school record-holding 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays as well, he also was a part of three other relay records upon graduation from Valpo. 

Weidner was a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District V selection and was named the Mid-Con’s Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year his senior season.  A two-time team captain, Weidner also was named Valpo’s Student-Athlete of the Year for 2000-2001 and was named the team’s Most Valuable Swimmer all four years he competed for the Brown and Gold. 

Weidner has become a licensed professional engineer and has been a senior project civil engineer at Engineering Enterprises, Inc. in Sugar Grove, Ill.

The Valparaiso University Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Banquet will be held on Saturday, February 28 at 3:30 p.m. in the Ballroom at the Harre Union.  The inductees will also be recognized at halftime of both the men’s and women’s basketball games on the same day.
