Valparaiso University catcher Matt Lenski (Milwaukee, Wis./Marquette University H.S.) has been named this week’s U.S. Army Horizon League male Scholar-Athlete of the Week.

The senior hit safely in all three games he played in from March 9-15, extending his hitting streak to 10 straight games, dating back to the 2008 season.  He went 2-for-5 with a homerun, three runs batted in, and scored two runs in game two of the doubleheader against Tennessee Tech after going 2-for-3 in the opener.

In the classroom, Lenski carries a 3.40 grade point average as a nursing major.  He was named to the Horizon League’s 2008 Fall Academic Honor Roll.
