Valpo's Lenski Earns Academic All-District V Honors

Valparaiso University catcher Matt Lenski (Milwaukee, Wis./Marquette University H.S.) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V Baseball Team as voted upon by CoSIDA.

The senior leads the Horizon League in hitting by 46 points heading into the weekend with a .428 batting average and has 22 multi-hit games in 37 appearances this season.  Lenski also leads the league in on base percentage (.503), is second in slugging percentage (.609), and is tied for third with 59 hits.  In addition, he ranks sixth in runs batted in with 36 and is tied for ninth with five homeruns.

In the classroom, Lenski sports a 3.40 cumulative grade point average as a nursing major.  He was named the U.S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Week on March 19 and was named to the conference’s Academic Honor Roll this past fall.

Lenski is now also eligible for Academic All-America consideration.

To be eligible for Academic All-District and Academic All-America, student-athletes must hold at least sophomore status, own a minimum grade-point average of 3.20, and be either a starter or key reserve.  District V consists of schools in Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ontario, and Manitoba.
