Valparaiso wrapped up play on Tuesday morning at the John Piper Intercollegiate Championships in Bowling Green, Ohio with a 10th place finish for the 54-hole event, turning in their best score of the event with a final round 302 (+14).

The Crusaders finished the tournament with a score of 918 (+54) on the 7,064-yard par 72 Stone Ridge Golf Club layout hosted by Bowling Green.  Green Bay won the team title at 864, winning in a playoff against the host Falcons.

Austin Gaugert (Lake Geneva, Wis./Badger H.S.) turned in Valpo’s best final round, a one-over par 73, and best tournament score to finish at 225 (+9) in a tie for 25th place individually.  For Gaugert, it was a season low round as well.  Josh Kalita (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) carded a 75 on Tuesday, matching his first round score, on his way to 230 for Valpo’s second best performance of the week.

Valparaiso will return to the links next Monday and Tuesday at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational hosted by BallState in Muncie, Ind.  The rounds begin at 8 a.m. CDT each day, with 36 holes being played on Monday and the final 18 contested on Tuesday.
