Valparaiso’s women’s tennis team wrapped up its 2009 fall season on Friday, competing in the IPFW Mastodon Fall Invitational held in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Katie Bilyeu (Terre Haute, Ind./South Vigo H.S.) played Valpo’s tightest match of the day in the third singles flight.  In her consolation match against Morgan Weuve of Green Bay, the sophomore won the first set 6-3 before falling in a super tie-break for the third set, 3-6, 6-0, 10-4.

The other Crusader singles matches were all decided in straight sets.

Bilyeu also teamed with Stephanie York (Elmhurst, Ill./York H.S.) in the second flight of doubles for the closest match there as the duo fell 8-3 in the consolation draw to a team from Green Bay.

Valpo will open its spring season in January.
