Third-seeded Valparaiso will host number six seed Green Bay on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Eastgate Field in the quarterfinals of the 2009 Horizon League Women’s Soccer Championship.
The Crusaders (9-8-1, 5-3 Horizon) will be hosting a tournament match for the second straight season after hosting a first round contest against Youngstown State a year ago. Valpo defeated Green Bay (4-10-3, 2-4-2) 2-0 at home during the regular season back on September 25.
Should Valparaiso advance past the quarterfinals, the Brown and Gold would face second-seeded Wright State (11-6-2, 6-2) on Friday, November 6 at 5 p.m. in Milwaukee, Wis. in the tournament semifinals.
Number four Loyola (5-12-2, 4-2-2) will host fifth-seeded Butler (7-11-1, 3-4-1) in the other quarterfinal on Sunday with top-seeded Milwaukee (10-5-3, 8-0) hosting the lowest remaining seed in the second semifinal beginning at 7:30 p.m. on November 6. The championships match will also take place in Milwaukee on November 8 at 1 p.m.
Tickets for Valpo’s first round match with the Phoenix are $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and children. Horizon League institution students will be admitted free of charge with valid ID.
The match will also be broadcast live on WVUR (95.1-FM, Valparaiso) and online at www.valpoathletics.com.
