Valpo 13th After Two Rounds at Detroit

Playing in their final tune up for the Horizon League Championships, Valparaiso currently sits in 13th place after two rounds of the Detroit Titans Invitational held at Prestwick Village Golf Club in Highland, Mich. held on Friday

Valpo shot scores of 309 and 318 over the 7,142-yard, par-72 course, and is seven shots behind Canisius for 12th place.  The Crusaders hold a 22-shot advantage over Duquesne.

Brad Winters (Elgin, Ill./Saint Edward H.S.) led the way for the Crusaders on day one with consistent rounds of 75 and 76 for a seven over par total of 151.  He is tied for 24th place.  Austin Gaugert (Lake Geneva, Wis./Badger H.S.) also shot a 75 in the first round, but followed that with a 79 to stand at 154 heading into the final round.

Andrew Beischl (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay H.S.) shot 159 (79-80) to finish third overall for the Crusaders while Josh Kalita (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) posted 80-84 for 164.  Andy Webb (Bedford, Ind./North Lawrence H.S.) added rounds of 82 and 83 for a total of 165.

Individually, Braden Mork of Green Bay leads at three under par 141 (69-72) while the Phoenix also lead the team title at 580 (285-295).

Valparaiso will return to action on Saturday morning for the final round of play at the tournament.  Round three begins with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. CDT.
