Three Crusaders Earn Academic All-PFL Honors

The Pioneer Football League announced its annual Academic All-PFL Teams on Tuesday afternoon, which included two Valparaiso University Crusaders on the First Team and another on the Second Team.

Nathan Blair (Homewood, Ill./Andrean H.S. [Ind.]) was voted to the Offensive First Team while Adam Rundh (Aalborg, Denmark/Orjanskolan H.S. [Sweden]) was named to the Defensive First Team.  John Popper (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman H.S.) was selected to the Second Team Offense as well.

Blair, a sophomore, started all 11 games for the Crusaders at left tackles this season, helping to anchor the Valpo offensive line.   He earned Honorable Mention All-PFL accolades for his play on the field.  In the classroom Blair carries a 3.72 cumulative grade point average as an actuarial science major.

Rundh, a senior defensive lineman, tallied 36 tackles in 2009, including seven for loss.  He had 3.5 quarterback sacks, two pass break-ups, and three other quarterback hurries.  Rundh also earned First Team Academic All-America honors.  He is a three-time Academic All-PFL selection.  In the classroom Rundh has a 3.94 cumulative grade point average as an international business and finance double major.

Popper, a senior running back, appeared in five games for the Brown and Gold before suffering a season-ending injury.  He had 55 carries for 204 yards on the year, as well as 12 receptions, including a pair of touchdown grabs.  Popper also returned punts and kickoffs for the Brown and Gold, averaging 25.2 yards per kickoff return.  In the classroom Popper sports a 3.02 cumulative grade point average as an accounting major.
