Valpo Men Eighth Heading into Final Round at Kentucky
Josh Kalita shot an even par 71 in round two.

Valparaiso shot rounds of 301 and 299 for a 36-hole total of 600 on Saturday and sits in an eighth place tie with Horizon League foe  Youngstown State at the UK Bluegrass Invitational head at the University Club of Kentucky Big Blue Course in Lexington, Ky.

Kyle Henning (Brookfield, Wis./East H.S.) leads the way for the Crusaders through two rounds at seven-over par 147 (74-73), and he sits in a tie for 15th place overall.

Brad Winters (Elgin, Ill./Saint Edward H.S.) shared team-low honors in the opening round with Henning, carding a 74 before following it up with a 76 for a two-round total of 150.  Winters is tied with teammate Austin Gaugert (Lake Geneva, Wis./Badger H.S.), who posted rounds of 76 and 74.

Thomas Wettstein (Neenah, Wis./Xavier H.S.) was consistent, carding a pair of 77s and enters Sunday’s final round at 154.

Josh Kalita (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.), playing in an individual, shot Valpo’s low round of the day, an even par 71 over the 6,988-yard course to bounce back from an opening round 84.

Andy Webb (Bedford, Ind./North Lawrence H.S.) rounded out Valpo’s lineup with rounds of 87 and 76 to finish at 163.

The host Wildcats of Kentucky lead the team standings at 577 (296-281), holding a three-shot advantage over Dayton.  Individually, Marshall’s Bosten Miller and Dayton’s Andrew Steffensmeier share the lead at two-under par 140.

Sunday’s final round begins at 7 a.m. CDT with a tee time start.
