Valparaiso senior forward Ryan Broekhoff (Frankston, Victoria, Australia/Australian Institute of Sport) has picked up his second Player of the Week award from the Horizon League office after posting a pair of stellar performances last week.

Broekhoff kicked off the week with a 21-point effort in the Crusaders’ win over IPFW on Wednesday, going 7-of-13 from the floor, including 4-of-8 from behind the 3-point line.  The senior also posted game highs of nine rebounds and four assists, with six of his points and his final assist coming during the critical 10-0 second-half run which put the game out of reach for the Crusaders.

Broekhoff then stood out as Valpo battled #18/20 New Mexico at The Pit in Albuquerque Saturday night, scoring a game-high 24 points in the losing effort.  He connected on 8-of-14 from the floor, including 5-of-10 from the 3-point stripe.  Broekhoff led all players for the second straight game on the boards as well, pulling down seven rebounds.

On the season, Broekhoff is averaging 17.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, good for second and third in the Horizon League, respectively.  Broekhoff and the rest of the Crusaders return to action Saturday night at Missouri State.
