Valparaiso men's basketball freshman Alec Peters (Washington, Ill./Washington) and women's basketball junior Sharon Karungi (Kampala, Uganda/ [Northern Oklahoma College]) have been named the Valparaiso athletic department's Athletes of the Month for the month of November.

Peters averaged a team-high 15.6 points per game for the Crusader men's team during his first month of collegiate action, while also tying for team-high honors with 5.0 rebounds per game. The freshman shot 51.1% from the floor, including 47.7% from beyond the 3-point line. Peters scored in double figures in seven of the Crusaders' nine games, including one of the best performances by a freshman in program history with 30 points at Evansville. He also picked up his first career double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds at Ohio.

Karungi led the Crusaders with 10.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in November during her first month in a Valpo uniform. The junior college transfer posted three double-doubles over the Crusaders' six November games, tallying 15 points and 12 rebounds at Illinois and 11 points and 10 rebounds at Tennessee Tech. She closed the month with her best game to that point, posting 17 points and 14 rebounds at Florida International.
