Athletics Center O’Rena (3,000) -

Next Up in Crusader Basketball: Valpo will get its first conference road test when it heads to Michigan to take on the Oakland Golden Grizzlies. The Crusaders and Oakland battled for eight seasons while the two schools resided in the Mid-Continent Conference from 2000-2007. The rivalry reignites Wednesday night at the Athletics Center O’Rena in Rochester.

The Brown and Gold went nearly nine minutes without scoring while the Penguins extended their second half lead to a comfortable double-digit margin. Sharon Karungi led all scorers with 21 points, but YSU’s Heidi Schlegel put up an impressive 19-point, 19-rebound evening. Though she shot just 4-of-16 from the field, Schlegel was 10-for-11 from the foul line. Freshman Aliyah Isaac contributed nine points in seven minutes off the bench.
