Eastern Illinois Hands Valpo Its First Loss Sunday

Valparaiso dropped its first decision of the 2007 spring season on Sunday morning as the Crusaders fell 5-2 to Eastern Illinois at Homewood-Flossmoor Tennis Club.

Kim Sajevic (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury H.S.) posted a 7-6 (1), 3-6, 11-9 victory at fourth singles for the Crusaders while Lindsey Gustafson (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy) was a 6-0, 6-0 victor at the sixth spot for Valpo's two points on the day.

Eastern Illinois (4-1) won first and second doubles to win the first point, with the third doubles contest being suspended. The Panthers then won three of the other four singles matches in straight sets.

Valparaiso (2-1) will return to action this weekend as the Crusaders head to Fort Wayne, Ind. Valpo faces Evansville in a neutral site contest on Friday at 1 p.m. CST to kick off the action.
