Janssen Wins Opening Round Match at ITA Qualifying

Valparaiso University's Rachel Janssen (Fort Wayne, Ind./Dwenger H.S.) won her first round match at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships in the qualifying draw on Thursday, but fell in her second round contest as well as in the consolation draw held in East Lansing, Mich.

The senior posted a 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 win over Tiffany Foster of Wright State in the first round of qualifying to advance. Janssen then fell to Michigan's Tanyhi Dudhela 6-1, 6-4 in the second round. She then played a consolation match against Joanne Schickerling of Indiana State, falling in super tie-break for the third set 3-6, 7-5, 10-6.

Valpo's fall season has now come to a close. The Crusaders will open the spring slate on January 20 as the Crusaders host UIC at Matchpoint.
