Valparaiso University's Jackie Thomas (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest H.S.) has been named the Mid-Continent Conference Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Crusaders to a pair of victories over the weekend.

The sophomore scored the match-winning goal in double overtime as the Crusaders defeated Oral Roberts on Friday afternoon 2-1. Sunday, against Evansville, she helped lead the defense which posted its third shutout of the season, 3-0.

On the season, Valpo's defense has allowed just eight goals in ten matches. The Crusaders have tied a school mark with their current six-match winning streak and will look to extend it to seven on Friday afternoon as Valpo heads to Youngstown, Ohio to battle Youngstown State. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. CDT.
