Three Crusaders Earn All-Conference Honors

Valparaiso's Rachel Janssen (Fort Wayne, Ind./Dwenger H.S.) was named to the Mid-Continent Conference First Team while Kate Evangelist (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West H.S.) and Kim Sajevic (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury H.S.) were Second Team selections as the league announced its postseason awards on Tuesday afternoon.

Janssen, a four-time All Mid-Con selection and three-time First Team pick, won a team-high 19 matches for the Crusaders this season at number one singles. The senior was a four-time Mid-Con Athlete of the Week, finishing her career with a 62-44 singles mark. She won four league matches at the top spot, finishing her career 20-6 in Mid-Con action. In addition, Janssen won 12 doubles contests in 2006-2007.

Evangelist earned league honors for the second straight season. The senior went 14-2 overall playing at the second spot for the Brown and Gold, and finished her four-year career with a 65-26 singles mark. Evangelist went 5-2 in Mid-Con action this season, finishing 23-2 over the past four seasons.

Sajevic was a Second Team All Mid-Con selection for the second straight season after finishing the year with a 14-10 singles record at the third slot in the order. The sophomore was a perfect 5-0 in Mid-Con action for the second straight season and also posted 12 doubles victories.

This marks the fourth straight season Valparaiso has at least three players represented on the league's All-Conference Teams.
