Friday, September 8, 2006
Kendall Brown's (Lake Zurich, Ill./Carmel Catholic H.S.) second goal of the match came just 28 seconds into overtime as Valparaiso rallied from a late deficit to defeat Belmont 3-2 on Friday evening in Nashville, Tenn. as the Crusaders began a four-match road trip.

The sophomore scored the match-winner quickly in the extra session as Lauren Cooper (Lake Orion, Mich./Notre Dame Prep H.S.) earned the assist, her third point of the contest. Brown tied the match at two to force overtime with 6:44 left in regulation on an unassisted goal.

Cooper started the scoring at the 42:24 mark of the first half, scoring on a shot that went high over the goalkeeper's head. Valpo would take the 1-0 lead into the locker room.

Belmont's Annie Mosacchio tied the match at one just 1:14 into the second half on a rebound, and then gave the Bruins the lead in the 63rd minute with her second tally of the night. Brown then tied the match setting up the heroics a short time later.

Valpo outshot Belmont (4-1-1) 11-8 in the victory, handing the Bruins their first loss of the season. Erin Murray (Pleasanton, Calif./Amador Valley H.S.) made one stop between the posts for the Crusaders.

Valparaiso (3-2) will return to action in Nashville on Sunday, crossing the city to face Lipscomb in a 2 p.m. match.
