Valparaiso right side hitter Jill Meyer (Crystal Lake, Ill./South) has been selected to the All-Tournament Team at the Western New York Invitational after helping Valpo to a 3-0 record in tournament play last weekend.
The junior kicked off the weekend by matching her career-high with eight kills, hitting at a .462 clip in a three-game sweep of Buffalo. But that career-high would not last long, as Meyer tallied 14 kills on 37 swings, also a career-best, in Valpo’s five-game victory over Binghamton. She closed out the weekend with eight kills on just 12 swings, hitting .500 in the Crusader’s sweep of St. Francis (N.Y.)
“Jill had another very steady weekend for us,” said Crusader head coach Carin Avery. “She has emerged as a valuable asset on the right side for this year’s team, and I’m very excited that she was able to represent us on the All-Tournament Team this weekend.”
On the weekend, Meyer picked up 30 kills on .306 hitting. She currently ranks third on the Crusaders in kills and is tied for second on the team in blocks. Her hitting percentage of .309 leads Valpo and is good for ninth-best in the Horizon League.
