Kim Sajevic (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury H.S.) earned a victory at number one singles for Valparaiso on Wednesday afternoon in Detroit, Mich., but it was not enough as the Crusaders fell to Detroit 6-1.

Zelijka Minic was leading Jenny Schwartz (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora H.S.) 6-1, 2-1 when Schwartz retired at second singles. Annie Moore posted a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Molly Keifer (Richmond, Ind./Richmond H.S.) at the third spot and Svetlana Flankova was a 6-3, 6-1 winner against Julie Wingstrom (Dallas Lake, Ind./Westview H.S.) and number four singles. Erin Weldon added a 6-2, 6-0 win against Christine Antrobus (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead H.S.) at fifth singles while Stephanie Hill topped Laura Lawson (Thorntown, Ind./Western Boone H.S.) 6-0, 6-2 at the bottom of the lineup.
Detroit got on the scoreboard first sweeping the doubles point as well. Minic and Moore downed Schwartz and Keifer 8-1 at the top of the lineup. Maricevic and Weldon were 8-5 victors over Sajevic and Wingstrom while Flankova and Hill topped Antrobus and Lawson by the same score.
