Valpo to Face Butler in First Round of Horizon Championship

Valparaiso has received the fourth seed for the upcoming 2007 Horizon League Volleyball Championship and will face Butler in quarterfinal action on Friday, November 16 at 5 p.m. at the Klotsche Center in Milwaukee, Wis.

The Crusaders enter the championship with an overall record of 19-10 and finished the league slate at 9-7.  The Bulldogs, who are the tournament’s fifth seed, hold a 14-14 overall record, including a 7-9 record in league action.  Valpo defeated Butler 3-1 in both previous meetings this season.

The winner of the Valpo-Butler matchup will face either host and top overall seed Milwaukee (25-2, 15-1 Horizon) or the winner of the first round meeting between #8 seed Loyola (8-20, 4-12 Horizon) and #9 seed Green Bay (6-19, 4-12 Horizon) in a semifinal match on Saturday, November 17 at 4 p.m.  The championship match is slated to be held at noon on Sunday, November 18, with the league champion earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
