Valparaiso wrapped up the fall portion of the 2007-2008 men’s tennis season on Friday evening with a pair of doubles matches in the main draw at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships held in Minneapolis, Minn.
Mike Shideler (Valparaiso, Ind./Munster H.S.) and Mike Wagner (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer H.S.) played the match of the day for the Crusaders in the round of 64, taking an early lead on a break against Pierre Dumas and Sebastian Gallego of Minnesota. The Golden Gophers fought back though to eventually defeat Valpo’s duo 8-6.
Alex Lau (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson Senior H.S.) and Tom Litscher (Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial H.S.) also played on Friday, dropping an 8-2 decision to Kenneth Nordheim and David Simon.
The Crusaders are now off until the start of the team’s championship season in the beginning of 2008.
