Valparaiso University head women’s basketball coach Keith Freeman has announced that Betsy Adams has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Crusaders beginning in the fall.

Adams, a 5’7” guard from Monticello, Ind. played at Twin Lakes High School.  A four-time All-Hoosier Conference and All-White County selection, she was named the Lafayette Journal and Courier Big School Player of the Year as a junior and senior as well as the White County Player of the Year.

“Betsy is one of the best shooters we saw this season,” Freeman said.  “She will help us stretch the defense.  She has shown she can not only shoot the three but has developed her mid-range game and her ability to get to the rim.”

An Indiana All-Star as a senior, Adams scored 1,802 career points (19.2 ppg) and shot 43.1% from three-point range during her career.  A Third Team All-State pick by the Associated Press, she averaged 22.5 points per game as a senior while shooting 43.4% from long range.  Adams was named a Hoosier Basketball Classic North All-Star as well as IBCA Senior All-State and ICGSA All-State.  She scored 30 or more points in a game four times during his career and made five or more triples in a game 10 times.

“She is an excellent student and will be a welcomed addition to our team,” added Freeman.  “She comes from an outstanding program and basketball family.”

Adams joins Lauren Kenney and Sylwia Zabielewicz as part of the 2008-2009 recruiting class.  Kenney and Zabielewicz, junior college transfers, signed during the early period in November.
