            Valparaiso’s women’s tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to the University of Connecticut on Tuesday afternoon as the Crusaders began play on their spring trip in Orlando, Fla.

            The Huskies opened the day winning all three doubles matches by the score of 8-4.  Kelley LoRusso and Emily Herb defeated Molly Keifer (Richmond, Ind./Richmond H.S.) and Jenny Schwartz (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora H.S.) at the top of the lineup while Allison Campitielllo and Jessica Porter earned the win over Julie Wingstrom (Dallas Lake, Ind./Westview H.S.) and Kim Sajevic (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury H.S.) at number two doubles.  At the third spot, BreAnn Cheung and Alison Koch downed Laura Lawson (Thorntown, Ind./Western Boone H.S.) and Lindsey Gustafson (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy).

            Connecticut (3-3) won all six singles contests in straight sets.  LoRusso defeated Sajevivc 6-1, 7-6 (1) and Herb beat Schwartz 6-4, 6-0 at first and second singles respectively.  Cheung topped Keifer 6-1, 6-1 at the third spot while Porter was a 6-2, 6-3 victor over Gustafson at fourth singles.  Campitiello defeated Wingstrom 6-1, 6-0 at fifth singles while Koch downed Christine Antrobus (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead H.S.) by the same score at the bottom of the order.

            Valparaiso (0-4) will return to the courts in Orlando on Wednesday morning for an 11:30 a.m. match against Adelphi.
