Valparaiso University head women's soccer coach John Marovich has announced the 2009 Crusader schedule which includes nine home regular season matches at Eastgate Field, including a visit from Michigan on August 23 for the home opener.

Valparaiso University's head women's soccer coach John Marovich, has announced six signees that will join the squad in the fall of 2009. Joining the Crusaders are Marie Argo, Rachel DeFrank, Rachel Hoaglin, Rachel Spinelli, Catherine Terrell, and Trisha Wladecki. He also welcomes Janine Lytle, who has already joined the program at the beginning of the spring semester and will be considered a member of the 2009 freshmen class.

Valparaiso University senior women's soccer player Jackie Thomas (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest H.S.) received a pair of honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) at last weekend's awards banquet at the national convention in Saint Louis, Mo. Thomas was named a Third Team NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-American Team as well as being named to the NSCAA/adidas All-Great Lakes Region Second Team.

After 110 minutes of scoreless soccer in which Valparaiso outplayed Youngstown State and held a 29-6 advantage in shots, the Horizon League Championship first round match was decided in penalty kicks and the Crusaders came up on the short end as the Penguins advanced to the quarterfinals with a 5-4 victory.
