Despite winning four individual events, the Valparaiso men’s swimming and diving team dropped its home opener to Xavier (Ohio) 94-51 on Friday evening at the Athletics-Recreation Center pool.
Adam Jajtner (Port Washington, Wis./Port Washington H.S.) won the first individual race of the day with a 16-second triumph in the 1000 freestyle. The senior finished with a time of 10:27.33. He also finished second in the 500 free with a time of 5:05.63.
Victor Sikorski (Valparaiso, Ind./Wheeler H.S.) also posted a win in a freestyle event, winning the 50 free by nearly a second with a time of 21.53 seconds.
David Sivak (Hobart, Ind./Hobart H.S.) added a win in the 200 breaststroke by the tightest margin of the day, just .03 seconds over the Musketeers with a time of 2:18.13. Sivak also finished runner-up in the 200 free with a time of 1:49.76.
Kurtis Malone (Pekin, Ill./Pekin H.S.) posted a win on the one-meter diving board with a score of 236.50.
Ansel Hillmer (Tampa, Fla./Hillsborough H.S.) earned a second place finish in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:07.23. He also finished second in the 100 fly touching the wall in 55.66 seconds.
Valparaiso (0-3) will have nearly a month off before returning to the water on November 15 in Dayton, Ohio for a 1 p.m. CST meet against Wright State.
