Valparaiso University head coach Stacy Adams has announced that 45 players have committed to play football for the Crusaders beginning this fall.

The Valparaiso University football team has announced that it will now open the 2009 season against Saint Joseph's (Ind.) on the road in Rensselaer, Ind. as opposed to at Brown due to other scheduling considerations. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m.

With Valparaiso set to kick off spring practice on Monday, March 30, head coach Stacy Adams has announced the 2009 football schedule, which will see the Brown and Gold play at Brown Field six times.

Valparaiso University had five football players voted to the Academic All-Pioneer Football League First and Second Teams, as voted upon by the conference's sports information directors. The Crusader selections included First Team accolades for Ryan Kozey (Waterford, Wis./Union H.S.) and Adam Rundh (Aalborg, Denmark/Orjanskolan [Sweden] H.S.). Tim Kratz (Macomb, Mich./Lutheran North H.S.), Ryan Koepke (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead H.S.), and Matt Mancl (Neenah, Wis./Neenah H.S.) were named to the Second Team.

Valparaiso heads out on the road for the final time Saturday afternoon as the Crusaders travel to Buies Creek, N.C. to take on Campbell, the Pioneer Football League's newest member. The Fighting Camels are playing collegiate football for the first time since the 1950 season, when Campbell played as a junior college program. Valpo is looking for its first victory of the season away from Brown Field while Campbell is looking for its first home win since reintroducing football.
