Tuesday, September 9, 2008

Junior outside hitter Angie Porché has been recognized by the Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) as one of its Top Performers for the second consecutive week after her All-Tournament performance at Indiana’s adidas Classic last weekend.

Porché tallied 61 kills and 28 digs over Valpo’s three matches at the adidas Classic as the Crusaders went 2-1 for a second-place finish.  She especially stood out in Valpo’s win over ACC opponent Wake Forest, going for 28 kills on .357 hitting, the second-most kills in a four-set match in Valpo history.  Through two weeks, the junior ranks second in the nation in kills/set (5.13) and, additionally, leads the Horizon League in service aces/set (0.48).

CVU recognizes a Player of the Week as well as ten Top Performers weekly during the volleyball season, chosen from among all Division I players.  This is Porché’s second consecutive appearance on the Top Performers list, following an opening weekend where she was named MVP of Notre Dame’s Shamrock Invitational.
