Hochstetler Named Scholar-Athlete of the Week
Lauan Hochstetler garnered Scholar-Athlete of the Week honors.

Valparaiso University's Launa Hochstetler (Berlin, Ohio/Hiland H.S.) was named the Horizon League’s U.S. Army Scholar-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Dec. 21.

Hochstetler set a new career high in the scoring column at #22 South Dakota State, pouring in 24 points, 20 of which came in the second half. She added five rebounds while going 7-of-9 from the charity stripe and 3-of-4 behind the three-point line. The senior also registered two assists, giving her 261 career helpers, ninth-best in Valpo history.

In the classroom, Hochstetler carries a 3.75 cumulative GPA with a double major in accounting and finance. She has been on the Dean’s List at Valpo, as well as earning Presidential Scholar-Athlete honors. She also earned a spot on the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll both semesters last season. This is Hochstetler’s second career Scholar-Athlete of the Week award from the Horizon League.
