Gulbransen Named Horizon League's Pitcher of the Week

Monday, March 02, 2009 Valparaiso University’s Jon Gulbransen (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran H.S.) has been named the Horizon League’s Pitcher of the Week after tossing eight innings of shutout baseball on Sunday against Arkansas-Little Rock. The sophomore left-hander allowed just two hits in eight innings of work in game one of the doubleheader against the Trojans in Valpo’s 2-0 victory. He walked just one and struck out a career-high eight hitters. On the season, Gulbransen is now 2-0 with a 2.08 earned run average in 13 innings of work. He has allowed just nine hits, with opponents hitting just .184 against him, and has struck out 12. Valpo (4-1) will head to Arkansas on Tuesday afternoon for a 3:05 p.m. contest in Fayetteville. |
