Valparaiso University head golf coach Mike Higdon has announced that Josh Kalita has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Crusaders beginning this fall.

Kalita, a native of Chesterton, Ind. helped lead Chesterton High School to a sixth place finish at the 2009 Indiana state finals, finishing tied for 18th overall individually.  He was a two-time All-Duneland Athletic Conference selection as well as being named First Team All-Area by The Times as a junior and senior.  Kalita was also a 2009 Academic All-State Honorable Mention selection.

“I am excited to sign our first local men's player and Josh is exemplary of the type of player we are looking for to build this program into prominence,” Higdon said.  “His 18th place at the Indiana State Finals is a great boost heading into the fall season and I expect that solid play to continue well into the future.  I believe Josh has a great future ahead of him and will be an essential part of the Valparaiso golf program for four years.”
