The Valparaiso volleyball squad has been predicted to finish second in the Horizon League in 2009, as chosen by the league’s nine head coaches.  The Crusaders tallied 58 points and received two first-place votes.

Each of the coaches ranked the teams one through eight, omitting their own squad from the voting.  Teams received eight points for a first-place vote down to one point for an eighth-place vote.

Milwaukee received the remaining seven first-place votes and tallied 63 points to earn preseason league favorite honors.  Following the Crusaders were Cleveland State (45 pts.), Butler (42 pts.), Wright State (38 pts.) and Loyola (33 pts.).  UIC (18 pts.), Youngstown State (17 pts.) and Green Bay (10 pts.) rounded out the projections.
