Valpo Women Conclude Season at Great Lakes Regional

The Valparaiso women’s cross country squad finished up its 2009 season Saturday morning at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Bloomington, Ind., running to a 30th place finish.

The Crusaders tallied 900 points on the day for their 30th place finish.  Notre Dame took the team title with 94 points, while Michigan State’s Emily MacLeod took home top individual honors.

Senior Alyssa Bradford (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) paced the Crusaders over the 8K course on Saturday, finishing in 167th  Senior Lindsey Gilman (South Bend, Ind./Marian) was the next Valpo runner across the line, completing the course in 24:35.65, good for 180th place. place with a time of 24:22.25.

Seniors Whitney Bowman (Portage, Ind./Portage [Purdue]) and Sara Christensen (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley) were next across the line for Valpo, placing 184th and 185th with times of 24:40.52 and 24:41.38, respectively.  Senior Caitlin Sauerhage (Rising Sun, Ind./Rising Sun [Indiana]) rounded out the Crusaders’ top-five runners with a time of 24:49.10, finishing in 189th place.
