Valparaiso University punter Greg Wood (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville H.S.) was honored by the College Football Performance Awards as an Honorable Mention Punter of the Week in NCAA I-FCS after his efforts at Dayton.

The sophomore averaged 46.7 yards per punt over seven kicks, landing a pair inside the Flyers’ 20-yard line.  He had three punts of 50 yards or more, including a long of 55 yards.

For the season, Wood ranks second in the Pioneer Football League, averaging 41.3 yards per punt.  He has landed seven of 28 kicks inside of the opponents 20-yard line, and has five boots of 50 yards or more.  His 55-yarder against Dayton marked a career-long.

Valparaiso returns home to Brown Field on Saturday afternoon as the Crusaders host the Red Foxes of Marist on Parents Weekend. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
