Crusader Men Fall to Cleveland State

Valparaiso’s men’s swim team wrapped up its brief two-meet homestand on Friday afternoon, falling 131-69 to Cleveland State at the Athletics-Recreation Center pool.

David Sivak (Hobart, Ind./Hobart H.S.) won the 200 individual medley, cruising to a victory by more nearly five-and-a-half seconds.   The senior touched the wall in 1:59.34.   He also finished runner-up in the 100 freestyle, posting a time of 49.16 seconds, just under a second off of the pace.

Tate Wegehaupt (Tigard, Ore./Tigard H.S.) had the second fastest time in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.29.

Kevin Fedde (Fort Collins, Colo./Heritage Christian H.S.) posted a third  place finish in the 200 freestyle, touching the wall in 1:52.27.  Alex Cox (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way H.S.) also finished third in the 50 free with a time of 22.69 seconds.

Valparaiso (0-5) will return to the water on Saturday morning at the Indiana Intercollegiates hosted by Purdue.  The meet begins at 11 a.m. CDT in West Lafayette, Ind.
