Valpo Men Finish Fourth at Indiana Intercollegiates

Valparaiso’s men’s swim team earned a fourth place finish on Saturday morning at the Indiana Intercollegiates hosted by Purdue in West Lafayette, Ind.

The Crusaders tallied 150 points on the afternoon while the host Boilermakers won the event with 1,021 points.

David Sivak (Hobart, Ind./Hobart H.S.) led the Crusaders with a sixth place effort in the 200 individual medley, touching the wall in 1:59.55.  He also finished sixth in the 100 backstroke with a mark of 54.63 seconds.

Kevin Fedde (Fort Collins, Colo./Heritage Christian H.S.) also had a sixth place effort, doing so in the 500 freestyle.  He posted a time of 5:12.74.  Guillermo Aguilar (San Salvador, El Salvador/Colegio Internacional de San Salvador H.S.) and Steve Booth (Saint Joseph, Mich./Saint Joseph H.S.) also both placed in the top-10 in the 500 free, finishing ninth and 10th respectively with times of 5:15.31 and 5:20.04

Tate Wegehaupt (Tigard, Ore./Tigard  H.S.) placed 10th for  the Brown and Gold in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.50 seconds.  Alex Cox (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way H.S.) also earned a 10th place showing in the 100 freestyle, finishing in 51.46 seconds.

Valparaiso will have a week off before returning to the pool on November 5 for a dual meet with Wright State.  The meet will begin at 5 p.m. CDT in Dayton, Ohio.
