Crusader Men Fall to Notre Dame

Valparaiso’s men’s swim team dropped a 130-70 home meet to Notre Dame on Saturday morning at the Athletics-Recreation Center pool.

The Fighting Irish posted the top time in all 11 events on the afternoon on the way to the dual meet victory.

Russell Deghi (Sebestopol, Calif./Analy H.S.) turned in the day’s second fastest time for the Crusaders in the 50 freestyle, touching the wall in 23.42 seconds.  Phil May (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville H.S.) was third in the same event with a time of 24.77 seconds.

Kevin Fedde (Fort Collins, Colo./Heritage Christian H.S.) finished third in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:00.41.  Tate Wegehaupt (Tigard, Ore./Tigard H.S.) added the third best time of the day in the 100 freestyle, posting a time of 49.53 seconds.

Valparaiso (0-5) will return to the water next Saturday afternoon for a triangular meet against Cleveland State and Saint Bonaventure in Cleveland, Ohio.  The first event begins at 12 p.m. CST.
