Green Bay Defeats Valpo’s Men

Valparaiso took to the water for the final time before the holiday break on Saturday afternoon, falling 157-87 to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in Green Bay, Wis.

Kyle Braun (McHenry, Ill./West H.S.) won the 50 freestyle for Valpo with a time of 22.70 seconds.  The freshman outtouched the Phoenix by 0.07 seconds for the victory.

Tate Wegehaupt (Tigard, Ore./Tigard H.S..) also earned a victory in the 200 breaststroke.  The sophomore posted a time of 2:15.23, winning the event by more than a second-and-a-half.  Wegeaupt also registered a runner-up finish for the Crusaders, doing so in the 100 breast.  He finished in a time of 59.92 seconds, just 0.10 seconds off the lead. 

Austin Hunter (La Crescent, Minn./La Crescent H.S.) posted a second place finish for the Brown and Gold in the 200 freestyle, touching the wall in 1:51.75.

Valparaiso (0-7) will be off for nearly a month-and-a-half before traveling to Chicago on Jan. 20.  The Crusaders will face UIC with the first event beginning at 5 p.m.
