One of the top setters all-time at Valparaiso University, Katie (Bova) Hoffmann helped lead the Crusaders’ volleyball program to three Mid-Continent Conference titles as well as three NCAA Tournament appearances, and on Saturday, February 4, she will be inducted into the Valparaiso University Athletics Hall of Fame.
A two-time First Team All Mid-Con selection, Hoffmann was named the Mid-Con’s Setter of the Year in both 2004 and 2005. She was the 2004 Mid-Continent Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player and still ranks fourth all-time in school history with 3,061 career assists.
In addition, Hoffmann still ranks eighth on the career charts with 1,308 digs over four seasons. A co-captain as a senior, she earned a pair of Mid-Con Player of the Week accolades during her career and was named the Most Valuable Player of four different in-season tournaments.
Hoffmann is currently a statistics coordinator for the Association of Equipment Manufacturers.
The Valparaiso University Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Banquet will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4 in the Community Room of the Christopher Center on campus. The banquet is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. The cost of the banquet is $30 per person for the buffet dinner and reservations can be made by calling Sharon Jackson at 219.464.5471 or 800.803.7184 ext. 72. The deadline for making reservations is Monday, Jan. 30.
