Rain Washes Out Valpo’s Home Opener vs. Milwaukee
The tarp never came off of the field on Friday at Emory G. Bauer Field.

Steady rain in the Northwest Indiana area on Friday afternoon has forced the postponement of Valparaiso’s home-opening baseball game against Milwaukee at Emory G. Bauer Field.  The two schools will play a doubleheader on Saturday morning, beginning at 11 a.m.

Sunday’s single game is still slated for 1 p.m.  All three games of the series can be heard live on WVUR (95.1-FM, Valparaiso) and online at valpoathletics.com.

This is the second straight year that Valparaiso has had its home opener postponed.  Last year the Crusaders and UIC were postponed on April 1.

Tyler Deetjen (Saint Charles, Ill./East H.S.) and Kevin Wild (Brown Deer, Wis./Brown Deer H.S.) are slated to pitch for Valpo (5-14, 1-2 Horizon).  They will battle Milwaukee’s (6-11, 2-1) Eric Semmelhack and Cale Tassi.
