Valparaiso returned to Horizon League action on Saturday morning, dropping a 7-0 match to Butler at the Northwest Athletic Club in Michigan City, Ind.

The Bulldogs jumped on top with wins in all three doubles matches.  Stephanie McLoughlin and Gabrielle Rubenstein defeated Megan Barthels (Grand Rapids, Mich./Catholic Central H.S.) and Kristin Zakiewicz (Bristol, Ind./Northridge H.S.) 8-1 at the top of the order.  Brittany Farmer and Caroline Hedrick were 8-0 winners over Stephanie York (Elkhart, Ind./Jimtown H.S.) and Kaitlyn Hamel (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain H.S.) at the second spot, while Ashley Breitenbach and Angelia Qin topped Michele Fredlake (South Bend, Ind./Saint Joseph’s H.S.) and Angelina Goheen (Aurora, Ill./Rosary H.S.) 8-1 at three doubles.

Butler (4-10, 1-0 Horizon) won all six singles contests in straight sets.  Hedrick downed Barthels 6-0, 6-1 at the top while McLoughlin was a 6-0, 6-0 victor against Hamel at two.  Rubenstein defeated York 6-3, 6-0 at number three singles while Farmer was a 6-1, 6-0 winner against Fredlake at the fourth spot.  At fifth singles, Cam Thompson downed Zakiewicz 6-1, 6-4 while Qin topped Brittany O’Reilly (Green Bay, Wis./Southwest H.S.) 6-0, 6-1 at number six.

Valparaiso (4-6, 0-2) will return to the courts on Sunday morning to face Wright State.  First serve is slated for 11 a.m. at the Valpo Tennis Complex.
