Updated: Tournament Run Continues for Freshmen Pair
Freshman Dave Bacalla defeated Western Michigan's Michael Treis in three sets Friday morning.

Valpo freshmen Jeffrey Schorsch (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) and Dave Bacalla (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) continued their strong run through the ITA Regionals with a pair of wins in the Round of 16.

Schorsch handed Toledo's Kittibodee "Mark" Singnil a 6-4, 6-3 defeat. Schorsch has yet to drop a set so far in the final tournament of the fall.

Bacalla beat Western Michigan's Michael Treis 6-2, 1-6, 6-1.

Because they made the final eight in the qualifying draw, Schorsch and Bacalla now feed into the main draw where they'll face a pair of Buckeyes. Bacalla will take on Ohio State's Peter Kobelt, the third-ranked player in the nation, while Schorsch will face Marko Goles Babic.
