Trio of Crusaders Collect HL Weekly Honors

A trio of Crusaders collected Horizon League Outdoor Track & Field Honors on Tuesday. Jacob Frey (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville Area) and Jazmin Taylor (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) were selected as Field Athletes of the week, while Elizabeth Bloy (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) was named Runner of the Week. 

Frey captured the top spot in the hammer throw with a mark of 164’9”. The senior thrower also took fourth-place in the discus, clearing 135’4”.

Taylor registered a first-place finish in the high jump over the weekend, breaking her own school record in the process. Taylor cleared 5’4 ¼”, breaking her previous record by an inch. This is Taylor’s second Horizon League Honor of the season, as the junior was named Indoor Field Athlete of Week on February 18th.

Bloy dominated the competition in both the 800-meter and 1,500-meter runs, breaking the tape in both events. Bloy finished the 800-meter run in 2:23.21; nearly four seconds faster than the runner-up, and the 1,500-meter run in 4:54.93; over ten seconds faster than the runner-up.

The Crusaders return to the track this Friday and Saturday to compete at the Purdue Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind.
