Drew Tosses First Pitch; McClendon Leads M's to Win Saturday
Bryce Drew, Lloyd McClendon, Mark LaBarbera, and Homer Drew before Saturday's game

Nearly 200 Valparaiso University alumni, family and friends spent an afternoon at US Cellular Field in Chicago, Ill. on Saturday, as Crusader men's basketball head coach Bryce Drew threw out a ceremonial first pitch before the game. Former Valpo baseball player and current Seattle Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon then led the Mariners to a 14-inning win.

Drew and his father, Homer, chatted with McClendon prior to the game. They also spent some time with Chicago Bulls rookies Doug McDermott and Cameron Bairstow, there to throw out first pitches as well, before Drew took the mound for his first pitch.

Once the game got underway, a number of Crusader head coaches joined the nearly 200 alumni, family and friends in attendance, watching as McClendon led the Mariners to a come-from-behind victory over the Chicago White Sox. The Sox scored two in the eighth before the Mariners rallied with two in the ninth and scored the winning run in the top of the 14th inning.
